Züpers was conceived one day while waiting to take a walk with a friend. Unlike the birth of my daughter, it came to me in a flash and quite easily. I was thinking about how my (then) five year old daughter was constantly ripping her tights and leggings, and also scraping her knees when she played outside.

As a child of the 70’s and remembering “Toughskins” pants for boys, I thought, why not make tights with knee pads built into them? Well, tights proved too difficult to make but I quickly realized leggings would be even better. I could offer a more durable fabric, more interesting prints and I wouldn’t have to worry about girls slip-sliding when they took off their shoes inside. Züpers was born.
